Spring is Almost Summer! It’s Gardening Time at Manycorners Headquarters!

The weekend is finally here! Time to put together my balcony flower garden. Since I live in an apartment that faces west/southwest, I need to work with plants that are suitable for full afternoon sun.

I visited the local home improvement store earlier this week to select plants. I felt like a kid in a candy store! So many plants to choose from. Lots of lovely colors! Which plants should I buy? Since I’m a girl on a budget and have limited space to plant, here is what I selected:

I miss the local garden and landscaping center. It closed last summer; houses are now being built in their space. It was a great place to visit. It had a parklike setting (my husband enjoyed going there with me). I would always want to spend hours there since they carried a large variety of garden plants. To show off their landscaping skills, they had a koi pond, working fountains, and a backyard/patio setting that added to the peacefulness. But I digress. Back to the task at hand.

After tidying up the balcony from the winter winds, I’m ready to pot the plants.

Here is where the planting action takes place:

Time to pot these lovely plants. Which plants in which pots? Here are the final results:

Voila! The plants, they are potted!

I also have flower boxes that hang from the balcony railing so I put some plants in them, too.

There is one less pot to be planted (sounds like a line from a song). This is a Hybrid Lily (Lilium Asiatic ‘Orange Pixie’) that I purchased a few years ago. I must be doing something right, because it keeps coming back!

Well, time to water the plants. Until next time, I remain… Manycorners!
